Default Facebook ads

I saw someone mention these on a thread but I can't find it. I have checked them out and think it would be useful for my business but have never used ppc before.

With something like facebook what is to stop a load of people just clicking the link out of curiousity (or worse boredom) and me getting a huge bill for nothing?

I think Facebook ads would be perfect for you - unlike ppc you will be able to target say single people aged between 30-45 who like countryside pursuits!
Facebook ads really enable you to focus on your target market - it's very cool to be able to place and ad in front of people who have particular interests.

A review of the ads by a friend of mine can be seen here: http://www.osworld.biz/1069/facebook-ppc-not-for-me/

Thanks for the thumbs up ....

but if I have to pay every time someone just clicks the link won't that get very expensive if people just click out of boredom (or does that tend not to happen)?

It would be perfect target marketing but what if a bunch of teenagers just click it to see if they can ogle photos (am I getting too paranoid?)

I know with Google Adwords there is supposed to be something in place to stop this happening, so it is probably the same with Facebook.

I would think that they have some click-fraud prevention. Why not email them and ask?

Hi - you are able to target your ads with facebook so you could specify the ad to be only shown to people of a particular age, marital status, education level. You can restrict it further by targetting only people with particular interests that you know your target customer to have

e.g. if I was selling clogs, I would only show my ad to people who had clogs as an interest listed in their profile. You can go very niche.

I think it sounds just right for my particular business and if I can stop kids or people with no interest seeing it that would be a great help. I may give a whirl but with a very limited budget to start and see what happens.

I think I need to get analytics sorted first so I can see what happens to people that click through.

I've used it on and off for one of my projects (not the main one) and didn't have any problems. It was ok in terms of effectiveness but I did like that you can really target your ads quite a bit - age, location, etc.
