Has anyone else had any problems with HMRC recently?

I have just received two letters from them - one to me as an individual and one to me as a business - both addressed using my maiden name.

What is totally bizarre is that the business letter lists me as an employee under my maiden name but I have never been an employee of the business under my maiden name!

When I phoned them to query and rectify the mistake, they told me they couldn't verify my details so wouldn't be able to make the changes. Well of course they couldn't because for some inexplicable reason they have changed my information on their system and now I'm not who I say I am!!

I've managed to get round that particular hurdle but I am left wondering how on earth this could have happened and has anyone else had anything similar happen?

Let's face who hasn't had problems with HMRC, I now put everything in writing and send RD

They're currently trying to put every Subway franchisee in the country out of business, so I have no time for them whatsoever!

I have nothing against paying what I owe, but they seem to so frequently mess things up then apply logic that cannot be applied in the real world, that I lose all respect for them.

i deal with them every day and it is really frustrating
they send my clients letters which are wrong then I spend hours on the phone trying to speak with someone to sort out the problems - argh!!

Dealing with HMRC is time consuming and hard work, unfortunately, especially if your tax affairs are not totally straight forward!
