well, given the logo they approved, I'm not convinced they can make good decisions

I have done a couple of items already on this but expect that the place will be flooded with merchandise when the real countdown starts. There is a lot of opportunites flying about it's just knowing how to get to them to throw your hat in the ring.

If I recall correctly, you have to pass a stringent vetting process to even be considered.

Then it's knowing how to get to the opportunities as you say is the key. Any suggestions?

I personally have nothing to offer them, but if you Google "Olympic Delivery Supplier Guide" there's a document that seems to give some information. The london2012 site also has some more information. <Edited to add> Actually the website in charge of the procurement process is CompeteFor (I'm not allowed to post links yet), which says:
Quote:
To apply for contracts listed on CompeteFor as a supplier, you must complete and publish a full business profile. Once your profile is published, you will also be able to track your activity and search for other suppliers with whom you may wish to partner. You will not be able to respond to available opportunities until your profile is fully published.
From a business point of view, it's a prestigious event, and it would obviously be great PR to be able to call yourself an Olympic supplier. The main problem that I'd foresee is that with such a big contract, there's a danger of smaller clients being neglected during the run-up to the games, which is always a bad idea, especially with the economy the way it is.

Many of the suppliers that wll win some of the contracts will need additional suppliers to supply them. I rarely even consider going direct on things like this as it is time consuming and overly complicated. You can understand their concern on suppliers as they have to be careful no one makes their branding/logos look worse or in this case better than they are. I also did a fair bit of merchandise on the new Wembley Stadium so have a few contacts that operate in this type of industry. I expect I'll pick up a few more orders relating to this.

I'm looking forward to the run of clients who'll ask for the word 'Olympics' or '2012' in their logo. Boy, will they be disappointed...

Get in touch with your local Council who may also have a list for local suppliers. Sheffield have something like this I believe, or links to one.

if you go to www.supply2.gov.uk it is a trial website setup by them to allow businesses to get into tender contracts for the government...i have seen a few Olympic contracts on offer for material, etc. it also shows the local area contracts available in your sector

You can see most of what is required if you register on www.competefor.com/london2012business
They do need your inside leg measurement and more when you fill out all the relevant info.

There will be a huge amount of work that is sub-contracted to a sub-contractor who will then sub-contract this on again so plenty of opportunites to sneak in depending on what you do.
