Hey Richard, you've just proved that I don't know how LinkedIn works because I didn't know you had Introductions and InMails to spend - will have to have a closer look. Will be interested to hear how you get on with it.
LinkedIn is good for networking and finding out what happened to ex co-workers, but is is unsuitable for getting your brand or product better known.
That is where sites like Bebo, My Space, Twitter, Face Book and 4Chan are good.

bebo and Facebook may be good if you have a consumer facing brand for the young, but they aren't great forums for business to business contact.
Twitter I do like as an inexpensive way of encouraging opt-in contact with customers and prospects, but not many people use it sadly. It's likely to disappear before it becomes mainstream.
