Default If you were selling something for £2...

...would you say that:
  1. the item cost £2 and the postage and packaging was free or
  2. the item is free and the postage and packaging costs £2

Essentially there is £2 in the equation; should it be marketed as £2 for the product or £2 for the packaging?

Your business feedback appreciated

£2 for the product with free P&P, adds some perceived value to the product with the added benefit of free postage, all seems positive from my point of view.

Yup I agree with Greg. A bit of a sting in the tail if a £2 P&P charge is lumped on after expecting the item for free...

yeah agree sounds tacky saying something is free but P&P is 2 quid.

makes the product sound worthless.

Very good question I can only say that I know someone who gives theirs away for free (so you only pay the postage) and he does SQUILLIONS of them.

What sounds better and what actually works is a totally different ballgame. I fully 100% agree with the above posts, give your product some value and the postage is free ... but are they REAL WORLD answers?

James.

Will orders always be for just one item, or are you likely to get some orders for 2, 3, 10 items?

Could you advertise both in different channels, and see what response you get??

I agree that £2 for the product with free P+P sounds better.

It is annoying to think something is free/cheap and then pay more in postage than the cost of the item.

I used to see this done a lot on eBay ect. Where someone sold something with a Buy It Now of £0.01 but the item has £19.99 P+P
