I'm having one of those days today where I can't get anything to work

With Googlemail how do I send the emails so that they appear to be coming from the right email addresses rather than my googlemail address. I thought I had it set to do this but obviously not!

Just to clarify I have sent up a google mail address, have all my mail going through there which I have set up my admin control panels of my websites, I am using IMAP rather than POP as it suggests, and have the reply address set to go back to the same email address it was sent to.

In settings, you can set an option to send from one fixed email address all the time, or set to choose any from your list.

When you create the email, you then choose from your drop down list, the email you wish to make it appear you are sending it from.

Do you just use googlemail entirely and not download it to any other client such as Microsoft Outlook?

I use Gmail entirely. I dont use anything else and have no need even though I used Outlook entirely for 6 years before that. Personally I wouldnt be without it and dont want to faff with anything else adding to it.

OK maybe I need to investigate how googlemail works a bit more to see if I can get it to work in a similar way to outlook then with extra headings. One thing I have noticed is that you can only add a limited number of accounts on there.

oh right. strange! Just checked and I have 10 - I added 2 new ones a few days back and haven't verified them yet, but it let me add them.

Are you setting them up in Accounts tab, top section:
Send mail as:
(Use Google Mail to send from
your other email addresses)

Ahh right for some reason I thought you had to put it in the section at the bottom as well!
