The way it's going, the state will end up owning all the mortgages of UK plc so shouldn't the government start planning a "name and shame" campaign directed at any delinquent mortgagees?

I suspect it would be a much shorter list to mention the ones that were not delinquent.
Going through my ancestry bit I see some of my kin made shoes in Nantwich and would walk to Manchester inorder to sell them-approx 35 miles-history might start repeating itself
I'm not sure I understood your question, you think people who don't pay their mortgage for whatever reason including financial hardship should be named and shamed?

No, not really. Its not their fault this idiotic government doesn't understand the capitalist system. The banks should have been allowed to fail, and those on the books as customers should feel the pain.
You wouldn't walk up to any man on the street and hand over your money and say - please look after it, but this is basically what people have done in picking a bank. If they keep making government the last resort, then no one will ever take personal responsibility.
Saying that, I would like my Share Certificates for my new shares in Northern Rock and B&B... Yes I might own 1 share in 60million (UK Population) but they used our money to bail them out, so surely we should have some expectation of making a profit from it - someday. haha, its a dream ain't it.
