Thought I would post a few snippets from the BBC news site on the budget:

Corporation tax will fall from 38% to 28% by April this year

Mr Darling said there will be simpler taxes for small companies

Funds available through the small firms loans guarantee will increase by 60% in the next year

There will be a capital fund of £12.5m to encourage more women entrepreneurs

And of course, any self-respecting businessman/woman wants to know that:

Beer up by 4p a pint, wine 14p a bottle, spirits 55p a bottle and cider 3p a litre by Sunday

What I don't understand is why all pensioners are not getting the same rate for fuel allowance. They should all be entitled to the £400!

Big sigh of relief that the tax etc on cars hasn't gone up.

Not bothered on the alcohol as I don't drink, but thanks for the link....been wondering about the diesel issue

Fuzzy do you run a diesel car? My new car I'm looking at is diesel and I've never had one running on that before. It's supposed to be more fuel efficient isn't it? Is yours very noisy?

Hi, yes I have a Diesel Ford Focus - cost £12K so was expensive initial outlay, but have been told cheaper to run..............me I haven't a clue, I just switch the engine on

. Not noisy and mines a turbo

I have a diesel. It is slightly more noisy than a petrol when standing outside the car. On the inside, it's nothing major. One tank is about 60 litres for me, and on motorway driving, I can get 600 miles out of that. It's a 2 litre turbo too
