Default Companies House (last minute) annual return

    Hi there guys,
I just realised that the deadline for one of my dormant companies' return is tomorrow. Normally I'd do it by WebFiling and it'd be done and dusted within a couple of minutes but I can't for the life of me find the "Authentification Code" I need to log in and the only way to get a reminder is through post..

Anyone been in a similar situation? Is there anything I can do to avoid the now £150 late filing penalty? Can I deliver the documents in person? (Their main office is in Cardiff but also looks like they have one in London).

    Cheers,
    Francis

Yes you can hand deliver to the London office.

NB if you do mean the "annual return" and not the dormant accounts then you don't get fined for this being late.

Yep it's the annual return... The due date is the 7th December (tomorrow)... I assume no one is at the office today, is there anything I should do to prove that I handed them in today?

    Cheers,
    Francis

As James said if it is the AR then no panic but details of filing in London can be found at the following - sorry that link didn't work but if you google Companies House ,click on the Contact Us link and then on the London address info link you should get it.

    Accounting Reference Date: 30/11
Last Accounts Made Up To: 30/11/2007 (DORMANT)
    Next Accounts Due: 30/09/2009
Last Return Made Up To: 09/11/2007
    Next Return Due: 07/12/2008

Does this mean I don't have to panic?

Sorry to be pedantic but am I definitely ok here? The last thing I want is a £150 fine...
If late Accounts incur an automatic penalty what is the penalty for missing the Annual Return's due date?

    Cheers,
    Francis

    Regarding annual returns,

I just had a row with CH about one of my companies - It was a weekend before the due date on monday am and the login codes no longer worked ( they had a database problem)

I rang them on the monday spitting fire about late payment fees ( they had charged me when the postal strike held up my stuff 18 months ago!!)

They told me not to worry - they dont charge late payment fees on annual returns....
only for accounts which (they say) you have 9 months to do... .....I tried to put them right on that. I would have been better talking to a brick wall

So no guarantee they wont, but that is what they said to me...

I was also told they dont fine you for late filing as long as its not too late. Comapnies Made Simple submitted mine on my behalf 5 days late (shocking, I know) and I wasnt fined. Needless to say, Ive cancelled their services as none the less, I dont want to be in that postion again.

No fine but if you want to hear it from the horses mouth you can contact Co House by eml - I got a reply within 2 hours last time and if you say its urgent then they may be even quicker.
