My business account manager is employed by the HSBC and I love him so much I want to adopt him.
When I first went to the bank to open my business account (July2006) I was dealt with by a lady who was very professional and polite but I felt quite stupid because being new to running a business I didn't know what she was talking about for the majority of the time.
My new account manager is lovely. He's very approachable and if I don't understand what he's talking about I can just be honest and he explains it in such a way that I don't feel like an idiot.
I know it's important that people doing this kind of job are professional but I don't want to feel intimidated. He can turn the ultra professional stuff on and off depending on the customer which I think is a valuable skill. I whole heartedly agree with the need for a sense of humour too. I don't want to feel like I'm going for a job interview, instead it's all very relaxed and lighthearted ... I actually quite enjoy catching up with him.
He's phoned a couple of times just to see if everything is ok and to ask if I need anything. I'm dreading him being transferred to another branch.
The only thing I don't like ... and it's not his fault ... is that the bank don't let him have a mobile phone and there isn't a direct number for the branch so when I want to see him I have to phone a central number and they have to place a request and then he phones me to arrange an appointment.
