All technology develops and changes in time but he hasn't suggested how he thinks we would search for the unknown if not by using a search engine.

Thats just me "sun"type headline grabber.

Although I do think google is ready for a fall, now it has become such a commercial enterprise and people are becoming disillusioned with there money grabbing tactics.Just needs someone to come up with an equally good engine or google to push to hard.A lot of people fed up with the increases in PPC.

Yes I agree with you there, I think it would be quite easy for a user friendly/based engine to take over the market rather than a money grabbing corporation - I would certainly support them.

but Google was a user friendly based engine, it grew as we all want to do, is that wrong?

people say Microsoft will fall and one day it might, but with enough money to buy all the competition it won't happen quickly.

the world needs the big boys not only to keep going but to inspire the rest of us.

Great read, but i don't see this happening any time soon as other search engines still aren't at the same level as google in my opinion

Good find Al,

Should we worry about the future of the web?

Will it affect our online businesses?

Well I would see the reduction in Googles market share as presenting a much more even playing field for companies in general.

The top ten spots on google represent or are probably worth 60% of the UK market.

Stands to reason if all search engines had a 10% share each ,there would be a lot more oportunities for the average site owner who could not afford the high SEO costs and other promo tricks that the big boys can get up to.
