Default Anyone looking for a MS Office alternative

Hi all

I have been using OpenOffice for a while now. It looks and feels like MS Office but it is FREE.

Can save files as ms docs so no probs with compatibility. I haven't tried all the features or done any exhaustive tests..but I have not found any major probs yet

I use Open Office Writer a lot nowadays. For me its great advantage is that it will create PDFs with just one click - and all the hyperlinks are preserved, unlike many PDF creators.

I have been using this for a long time not only because it is free but i think it is better than word, deals alot better with problems and i just seem to be better at getting to grips with it compared to word.

Open Office isn't perfect, it has its uses. it has issues with Office 2007 docs I believe.

It is free and as such is a good product to use on a budget but don't expect it to be like the paid for version otherwise why would anyone pay.

I find it strange that people make and promote this stuff freely, if someone copied the stuff you make or sell and gave it away for free how would you feel.

ok had my moan, now going back to have fun.

Office 2003 also has problems with office 2007 documents, as it is saved as .docx on 2007 compared to the old 2003, so its just microsoft making things hard for everyone so we go and buy more over priced software from them
