Canonicalisation problem - quote

Can anyone give me a quote for dealing with my Canonicalisation problem.

I understand I have 4 different URLs for my site but this is way beyond my understanding to deal with.

I recently did this myself with some help. The htaccess thing is not available if your hosted on a windows server.

Thanks Tig, I wish it was that easy but I already have an htaccess file because it does something with my database so I can't work out how to add this in.

Sometimes it's a real pain having such a complicated site script.

My server control panel has 3 different edit features, so I could do it in there but am worried about breaking things.

Can't other people do that when they log in to their control panel? I have an html editor, an editor and one I have been too scared to look at.

notepad would be the best...i would advise against opening with anything that may apply formatting eg word, front page, etc

Hi Dave,

I tried notepad and it wouldn't open. It doesn't recognise the .htaccess file type for some reason.

copy the .htaccess over using ftp to your computer.

in the ftp s/ware, right click on .htaccess and "open with" notepad

edit away and save (remember to save the original first though - may .htaccess-orig)

then load up to your server

Get yourself a Google webmaster tools account and it can be dealt with in there (for SEO purposes anyway)
