Im really struggling knowing what is the best thing to do for our site.
Adwords...We dont have the budget of the big boys and adwords is eating up about £120 a month and this is on just a £3 daily budget I only have one campaign set for four key phrases.
SEO...I sort of understand the principles but its really frustrating as you do not see any "instant" results so you don't really know if your doing anything right. Im not even listed in the top 1000 for pet products !!
So..Im thinking it is time to get some outside help but which would you go for? A targeted professional adword campaign or professional seo service.
Can anyone recommend companies that they have used and got results and what sort of price are we looking at.
Im sure you could get more out of your PPC budget, although its not somthing I do much of...Have you tried/tested other keywords and options with Adwords? Also, are you getting a return on the adwords, and turing a profit?
SEO - It can be a long process. If your going down the DIY route, do you have any test sites? This is very benificial as you can play with any techniques you come accross, even 'grey' areas, and see what works, and what doesn't. If you pick some really long terms to target, related to your niche, and get a decent amount of links, you will see changes on a weekly basis, and all this real knowledge can be passed over and implemented on your money site.
A quick look through the 1st page for your keyword shows the sites have between 100 - 13000 links, with most of them having around 3 - 5000. This should be your link volume target, assuming you have the onsite factors sorted. Im not saying you need 13000 links, or even 3000, but this is an area you should now be concentrating on imo
Welcome to a quote if you want one, let me know

I'd say your PPC spend is money wasted, unless you can tell me you are turning that £120 spend into a decent profit.
Also, your site needs some basic SEO but that aside you are targeting some pretty tough key phrases on your homepage. A quick whizz through Wordtracker suggest there are some great opportunities on long tail phrases with little or no competition. I'd look at these.
You simply can't compete with the 'big boys' if you have an "I can't compete with the big boys" attitude. Be smarter than them, make up for a lack of marketing spend with some lateral thinking.
I'm not convinced by the look and feel of the site but perhaps that's just me. To me it's wasting prime selling space and it just looks kind of home spun - and I'm saying this to be helpful not nasty AND it's only my opinion.
I'm thinking you are going after this market because your research is showing great potential, you can't realise this potential unless you mean business.

Is it really "eating up" £120?
If you're bringing in paying customers and those paying customers are producing sales worth more than £120, then is it really costing you anything?
IMO, if more money is coming in than going out, adwords is increasing the budget you have for marketing.
