    Default INdex Page Content

I need quotes for copywriting my home page content. I have averaged 13 unique visitors a day in March but only had a total of 20 new members in the month. The bounce rate for the index page is 53% so I assume content has something to do with it (or is the site just ugly?).

I don't think the bounce rate for a site of your type is particularly high.?

Thanks Al, I am just rather devastated at having 415 unique visitors and alomst no conversions so trying to work out how to improve things and get people interested.

How about making it more obvious that it is free to register. I see it in the text somewhere but I have to look for it. I would probably drop out if it was not stated clearly.

Other than that are your 415 uniques targetted?

No not really they are coming from search engines mainly.

Thanks re the free to register thing, will look at that again.

If you dont mind me saying so Sally, the site's overall navigation isn't right. I find it very confusing going back and forth between the pages and IMO it is over complicated for what it needs to be.

Any input is good input Indi, thank you.

Not sure what I can do about that at this stage though. I disabled a couple of pages to make it less confusing but do know what you mean. Will talk to the programmer.

At the moment am trying to understand why people are not looking past the home page.

well the home page above the fold has nothing tempting to entice visitors landing there. The photos are right at the foot of the page and should be visible above the fold. They are after all, your 'sales product'.

I don't see other than the phrase taking the plunge, any correlation between CC and the gold fish and it also doesnt sit right with your brand. Even the right image should be all above the fold and in this case it disappears half below.

Countryside or not, people still want to see nice attractive fun-loving images - because that is the fantasy of what they seek. Therefore I dont feel the couple in the banner are suitable. The man should be kissing the woman not the dog!

Hi Sally, here is my non-professional opinion of your home page:

I don't like the way the 2 main paragraphs are displayed so far apart.

The phrase '...until it reaches a sustainable level' could suggest that the site is not well established, and might be gone tomorrow.

A small customer testimonial somewhere could be helpful.

I like the image at the top, but it looks quite big for a lot of monitor sizes. There is also some graininess, and jpeg noise.

The Meet Singles box should be higher up the page.

'Join now for single dating UK.' - I would remove this.

I would remove the last 4 items on the vertical menu. They are given too much prominence for first-time visitors.

Is there any reason for text to be stamped across all the member photos?

If the information is favourable to you, you could say how long you have been in business, and how many members you have.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you that is really constructive feedback.

The text on the images is to stop people copying and using peoples pictures, I shall see if the text can be made more opaque.

Shall get working on some of those issues but not sure how I can move the members pictures from the bottom, where else could they go?
