I'm after a not too expensive one, that won't require me to re-mortgage the house to get replacement toners, cartiridges, drums etc.
What I want it to do is print letterheads, leaflets, pictures not in a big quantity but it needs to be a decent print quality.

I have 2 lasers, one is a seriously expensive tektronix thermal wax printer that i bought cheap The other (which I use constantly is Samsung CLP300 less than £110 inc VAT delivery might also be free http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120363 highly recommended by me.
having sold many and used many my real choice goes to HP. I have Dell and HP at work and the HP is far superior, I have a HP 3600DN at home and that is far superior to both of the work ones. you get what you pay for with printers, the cheaper you pay the more the cartridges are going to cost you in the end.
when pricing cartridges for colour lasers you need to know how many cartridges you need in them, what amount of pages they will print to (some are high capacity) and do they all have to be replaced if one runs out. black cartridges are usually much cheaper than the colour ones.
then you have print quality.
my HP 3600dn prints out pages that I see on screen exactly as I expect them to look, the Dell one can't get the colours right no matter how hard I try.
I also employ a printer engineer and he swears by HP of all levels from cheap to expensive. he loves them.
