Aside from the issues with the main image and the skyscrapers, you could look at moving that column to the right hand side and integrating it with the shopping basket area, something like...
I am back again and I am absolutely delighted with all the good advice given.
Thanks for the amended Design Awebapart, it looks much better with the navigation bar extended to the left.
I am now going to scootle over to the SEO forum to get some advice there. I have been playing around with different images and it is going to look very different.
Thanks again, I am truly touched by all the advice offered.
it sometimes takes different designers to design things as every designer is different and can create different ideas. when we design sites, etc we always design it, let it settle internally and then we notice on things to improve on before showing to customer for further reviews. the main problem i noticed was how the left bar looked lost. it needed to full under the black nav bar...which has been redone in a visual above.
Looks much better with black nav bar defining the header and then content below. Once offer pictures are placed down right hand side...it will start to fill out
i think the black nav bar is a bit too thick. for me the text looks a bit lost away on the right hand side. It's starting to come together but just not sure when i initially look to it my eyes are focused in on something immediately which gives the company product range and what the company does and is really about
Ok, we worked hard on a new visual for the new homepage as I was not happy with the old one.
Please let me know what you think. The graphic designer is on holiday (twice in 6 weeks!) so I have a few days to come up with some improvements.
At the moment I do not find it 'funky' enough. I think the telephone number should be in a different place ( but where) and that my account is not right where it is now either.
I am pulling my hair out with this project as it is taking far too long so I would appreciate any advice so I will keep some of my hair
It's quite good but in terms of generating sales you could do better. On this version most journeys will go to spotlight design, current season designs, special offers and tips for your home (because they're the graphics at the bottom and are presumably clickable). I think you'll make more money by having them link to some of your categories and best selling products.
