Photoshop - merging images

I want to make a banner with a few photos of animals but don't want a clear break between them. I have seen ones where they seem to fade into each other ..... how do I do it?

Hi Sally,

You can do this using layer masks...
1. Place your pictures on separate layers across your banner overlapping each other
2. Select the layer you want to work on and click the 'add layer mask' icon at the bottom of layers palette
3. Select black as your colour and chose a very soft large paintbrush
4. In the layers palette on the selected layer you will see an extra little box has appeared, click on this to edit the layer mask and then just start 'painting' where you want the pic to blend in, this will create a soft edge

Oh dear, I have found something I am totally utterly **** at

Your instructions work brilliantly but I just end up with big white splodges everwhere - tried black but it only seems to paint in white.

Any tips for NOT getting big white splodges?

Morning Amy, I just got finished, have been at it all night

I tried everything and just made a mess but then I discovered auto blend ..... although I seem to have ended up with a pink lamb
