Now that i'm all gimped up and a virtual design pro I have a question....

Is there a such thing as website where I can get hold of different icons and clipart and stuff to pimp my gimp?

I've found a load of sites with really chaddy spam loaded free stuff like you'd find on word 95 or on a naff church group coffee morning jumble sale poster but i'm after some half decent looking stuff at least...

Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I'm not after anything in particular. I'm just having a bit of a play around and learning how to use the programme.

For free icons, you could try the FamFamFam icon set. It's free. And there are loads of them available. Just do a Google search for FamFamFam.

A slower, but amusing way of getting free icons is to subscribe to iconbuffet. They've got some great stuff.

For free images, I use Flickr's commons license to search for photos I can use. Alternatively you can use stock.xchng. They have some pretty good stock photos.

iStockphoto is your best bet for high quality stock, but you're going to have to pay for your images.

If you're just wanting to play around, why don't you just steal images? A quick Google Images search should turn up a range of images to play with.
