Hey,

If when looking to have a site designed you came across one which was based of off templates, would this bother you? This is a purely hypothetical question , Please bear in mind that the site would still be fully customisable, just the basic framework the same.

Also, the poll is to ask what sort of price you would think to be fair for a site such as those,

I pressed £250 before reading the post fully that is the general figure I got when looking for quotes, some people even tried to charge me upwards of £800 for a template and freeish shopping cart

There's one missing Ben - 'would not use a template' After all you do say "would you bother?" but that option isnt in the poll.

To the untrained eye (dare I say most viewers) would not be able to see that its a template. Your thoughts?

I'd dare to say that a lot of customers are not even told it is a template unless they query it, or pehaps not in so many words that they understand.

I'd never use one, never sell one to a client and wouldn't start off on the right foot if a company had one, however, I know some designers can be sly and sell templates to clients WAY over priced, and the client is none the wiser.

I've heard of companies been charged £6k for a frontpage made website (5 pages, it has to be the worst site I have ever seen) and the company paid it!!!!!

Ben - Sounds bad. Things like that gives designers a bad name.

But it is very true Kay none the less and people should be aware to know to ask the questions and get second opinions before proceeding.
