Gallery software

Hello

Can anyone recommend a good customisable smart slick photo gallery that comes with a back end admin system for my client?

I need to be able to fit the gallery into my design and all it needs is a category menu with thumbnails and full image page with area to add descriptive text.

I've used Gallery http://gallery.menalto.com/ Worked well enough but has lots of bells and whistles, might not be what you want. It does have a nice upload feature which means you can upload directly from your Windows desktop.

Hi

I do currently use a couple of galleries:

One is semi bespoke php based - very simple with back end admin system for client but not slick visually.

Another one I use is Image Gallery Magic - an extension for Dreamweaver - very nice looking Gallery but it is hard for me to customise the layout of thumbnails etc (as there are restrictions or perhaps I do not have the skills!) and it does not come with a back end admin system.

So I am looking for something slick that I can adapt into my html designs and customise the layout and for it to have an end user admin panel for client.

I think I may mock up my visual design in HTML and then see if I can get a developer to turn it into what I need - any such developers here?

What about using one of these Flashloaded options. I'm not a big Flash fan myself, but there's no denying that these look good!

Alternatively, I'd go with the Flickr API. Why host your own images when you can get Yahoo to do it for you?

I used http://www.isdntek.com/clicpic.htm for a uni project, which offers you the opportunity to tinker with the code and add your touch to it, simple to use and offers a trial version to see if you like it. Very easy to embed into an existing site and even if you have no interest in web design, its intuitive in its workings, hope this helps.
