My business partner (self employed graphic-designer) and myself are currently seeking a business partner with extensive web design knowledge ie. of PHP/ASP and website-database integration, to help in our next project. In return we offer a full one third share in the business venture (one third of cashflow and value of business). No capital will be required from you and you do not have to run it once completed.
The project fills a definite niche in the market and is self-priming. Potential for profit is huge. I own the perfect domain name for the project.
Ideally you will be based in Northwest England but further afield may be acceptable. Must be willing to enter into confidentiality agreements. If you are interested, please post a message. Alternatively you can join my site ThinkBowl (it's free) and fill out your profile then message me directly through there.
I get one of these 'offers' every week; my concern is that we are asked to give our resources for free up front without having real guarantee of returns.
If there is mega profits due and lets say the site costs £10k or £20k to create (im presuming you have sought estimates to know the desired input is equal to a 3rd share of your business value as it stands today), then wouldnt it be better to get a loan out for that amount? Your other 2/3rds investment from the other 2 partners, and the business plan that reflects the projected profits, shouldnt be a probem with the banks saying yes.
Also has a third owner (not shareholder) you are responsible for losses as well as profits.

One of the little known facts of history is how such an "offer" almost bankrupted the great robert louis stevenson!!
He was given a percentage of something that turned out to be a percentage of a rather large debt!
For the OP - why not go out on scriptlance/rentacoder - you can get that sort of stuff done in the far east and eastern europe for buttons and you dont give away a chunk of your business. That is what most of the big name internet marketers do!!
Thanks Dave but I really need someone who can work it from the ground up. Appreciate the offer though.
Thats exactly right Indizine, there are no guarantees. You would be required to give up resources, as we would be doing simultaneously. Indeed we have sought estimates, and as my business partner and I are 'small-time' at the moment, we do not want to spend that sort of cash if there is another way. This particular business as it stands has no value. Once created it would be a singular entity brought under our umbrella company.
Well there are all kinds of things one could work into the contract; one could be a shareholder if one preferred.
Thanks admagic, I will look further into them, however I am a little iffy about a company several thousand miles away tinkering with my site!
@alvin, IMO any opportunity to work on a design project sounds interesting. I'm always on the lookout for something new, and you have to wade through a lot of junk to find the good stuff.
I doubt I would have got much of a response if I'd said "sounds lousy. What's involved?"

so what have the estimates been? you might as well give people an idea of the investment needed.

Like ebay, these people live off reputation,
so if you picke people with a lot of feedback you cant go far wrong.
and with money held in escrow...they cant runaway with the money
That's a good point Admagic. I've heard horror stories though, how foreign web companies have closed down and disappeared suddenly leaving the website basically stranded as they have all the codes, or hold a website to ransom lol. I am having a look at the companies you suggested though, so cheers for them.
Indizine - you were closest without going over Also if you read, I state that no capital (investment) will be needed from the prospective partner. We will only require their time and skill.
