Finding & Working with a Graphic/Website Designer: a step by step guide

Morning All,

For anyone who hasn't seen this yet the UK Design Council have released an article (or collection of articles) with hints, tips and information on working with a graphic or website designer for the first time.

The the section is broken down in to 6 key areas covering where to find a designer, getting the most out of a budget and writing useful briefs amongst other things.

(In effort to stamp out SPAM I couldn't post the link. But Google 'Design Council' and the link to the article is on the top right in pink of their homepage.)

At a first glance the Design Council's website and articles look to be aimed more at those businesses likely to spend £10k plus with large London firm rather than the '£99 (inc VAT) Logo crowd' or those delving into design for the first time. But put what these articles say into a little bit of context and there is some really good stuff that can help start-ups, SMEs or businesses who haven't put much thought or resources into design in the past.

Also for the designers; this is a must read. It'll give you a lot more way to convince clients that they're making an investment in design rather than an un-needed expense.

I'd missed that, thanks for posting it. Whilst their advice is sound in most areas, they're in the dark ages about actually finding a designer. Err 'online search' perhaps?
