I'd like to start a thread on impressive business websites that you come across in looking for something connected with your work. I found this beauty http://www.impressionsfoiling.co.uk/ if you have speakers make sure they are on!
It's rather poor and doesn't work here (FF2 on this laptop, and up to date for Flash, with js running).
Just tried in IE7 and it works. But the fact it only works there is a real giveaway to the quality of work. Throw in the annoying noises that may make colleagues think I'm playing games and... well!
So the initial flashiness quickly gives way to annoyance. Sorry!
I'm trying to be more positive now and think of some examples of really good stuff, but my mind's gone blank for the moment - will be back later!

Ummm, perhaps I should elaberate, for services such as cutting and creasing, perfect binding and bookbinding, all within the print industry, its nice to see an effort being made with a site.
I must admit having gone back to the site after I posted this thread, I began to get bored of the noise and switched the speakers off. Traditional in this industry the sites I've come acrosss tend to be functional, which of course is the main point of a site, but thats it. So in part I agree with your assessment.

Unfortunately the only thing that is 'impressive' there - impressive in that some people will be wowed by it (wowed maybe at first, but after a short while it would stop wowing and start annoying) - is the web design itself. The web design does little to show how impressive the company is, or how impressive the company's products are, or how impressive the company's services are, or how impressive and useful is the content and information the company has provided on the site. The important stuff that should be impressive, does not impress at all.
