Default Redirect Loop help - Wordpress

I have just found a redirect loop on a category heading on my blog:

http://www.country-couples.co.uk/blo.../working-dogs/ redirected to http://www.country-couples.co.uk/blo.../working-dogs/ redirect loop detected
    Status: 301 -> 301 Moved Permanently

I don't have a redirect for that URL.

I haven't posted in this category in the last couple of days and I know it was working yesterday ... what causes this?

I have tried the Disable Canonical URL Redirection plugin but that didn't work so I have had to disable the Redirection plugin .. it now works fine but all my redirects are now not working

My other blog also has 27 redirects of the same URL because the first URL is missing the trailing slash .... WTF urls are written automatically so why is it missing some slashes and redirecting .... very confused.

    help

Is this fixed now - the link posted works fine etc?

Can Wordpress write to the .htaccess file?

No it's not fixed .. I fixed it by turning off the redirect plugin but that means all my redirects don't work. If I switch it back on I get the loop again.

No idea about the htaccess file

Have you altered the htaccess file at all in your root?

Did you/do you update WP automatically or manual FTP?

Have you 'DELETED' the redirect plug in or just disabled in in your wp-admin?

General advice is to turn off ALL plugins. Hopefully the base install works. Then you can turn them on one by one etc. It may be that there's a conflict between a couple of them or an auto-update changed something and broke one of them..

    But something *must* have changed!

Your best bet would probably be the Wordpress forums.

Wordpress can change your .htaccess file. I recommend editing that. You only really need the bit for the permalinks.

I am sure if you pasted the contents here, someone will be able to tell exactly what bits are causing the problems.
