Character for website?

Hi all, i had a question or two. How does someone create a business type mascot?

Theres a contest going on the forum im in, and for the life of me its driving me crazy thinking of a proper character/design and if i should use something professional or something a bit more friendly like an animal. Anyone have any type of advice? Basically its for working at home so im hitting kind of a road block with what i could use as a mascot. Thanks

A mascot has got to be something memorable (and generally cute). If it's to be related to home I'd probably go for a pet - cat or dog?

Why dont you ask for advice in a design chatforum. I have gained some really good advice from professional people in various fields from doing that. I even managed to get a freelance writer to do my press release for me for free and our logo from a branding consultant who just offered to help
