Default Bing and Decide... Is anyone using it yet?

Microsoft released Bing at the end of May and I was wondering if anyone is making use of it yet....

Also, if you are using it, have you found any really good features that are applicable to the UK version? So far everything I would use is for the US only.

I have used Bing for a few searches, the results are better than its predecessor (Live Search) but Google still gets my vote, however, over time, i'm sure indexes will be improved, leading to better results, and more people using the service.

EDIT: 2 years down the line, can you imagine saying when you want to look for something you;ll bing it?...

I used it for all of 30mins then got rid. Its still giving rubbish results. Its nothing more than a Microsoft marketing glaze over the same old rubbish technology.

I also hate the name. Yek!

I used it once or twice. If Google ain't broke then why change in my opinion. Google has the power and has become so mainstream I can't see it ever losing dominance

Even Microsoft admitted that their biggest challenge was the fact that Google managed to make itself into a verb!

Microsoft is doing a good job already as an OS in terms of sales and dominance in the desktop market. I don't understand why they have to be so desperate to compete against google/web service. They should stick to their strengths. LOL!

People are definitely using bing (no competition for google) but when I add visitors from bing & windows live they now exceed visits from yahoo to my site.... whether it will last is another matter!

Don't know about bing being any worse than google for results... my experience is that when you get into concepts google is pretty bad... although I haven't checked in last couple of months for improvements as I've been concentrating on the web site....

My fears about Google are related to the totaly dominate position in search in the UK in particular. The sooner a viable alternative to Google appears the happier I will be. Bing is not it - not yet anyway and I think I will be waiting a long time.

Having total domination allows Google to charge what they like for PPC. I read here recently that Google is the largest advertising agency in the world. Thats a good way to look at Google - a massive money making corporation with fanastic PR. Google is a fantastic product but I just wish there was an alternative choice to balance things in the market place.

I am very reliant on Google to bring new in customers. In fact it is the only form of advertising/sales I use and has demonstrably worked well so far for me but I'm still looking to improve.

Fortunately having been successfully in business for 21 years and having built many long standing clients mostly from organic growth and personal recomendations and I am not reliant on Google. Building a business from scratch largely or wholly reliant on Google would give me nightmares.

    Rant over.

Interesting observation about Bing I think.

We have been getting a fair few visits from it ( or is that them.?)

    bounce rate 20% average 38%

Time on site 50% above normal.?

    What does that tell us.?
