you might be better off using integrated solutions for your business communications. try a similar service like the one offered by RingCentral
The biggest difference between 0800 and 0844 number is the call charges. On receiving calls on 0800 numbers, caller is not charged for the call rather you would be paying as low as 6 pence per minute. Whereas on 0844 number, you customers will be charged 5 pence per minute and you have a rebate of 3 minute per minute. However, the call management services provided by both numbers are almost the same. Now, its depending on your business requirement, you can choose either 0800 or 0844 number.
I pay 4p a min for 0800 calls.

Hi,
If you are going to purchase an 0845 number then don't put this number alone on your documentation, web site etc. if you want to do business abroad. You will need to quote your regular number with the international dialing code.
0845 numbers don't work from outside the UK!
If your business is mainly with foreign companies then I think these 0845 numbers are a waste of time.
You will be surprised though how many companys actually make the mistake of quoting +44 (0)845 etc.

I would reccomend getting an 03 number if you are wanting an NGN; or just keep your landline number - this shows that you are local (bit like sending mail to a PO Box) and is free for those who have calling plans...
OFCOM are clamping down on 08 numbers such that you will no longer be able to profit from 0870 numbers and im sure they will soon port it out to 0845 and others in time...
I think 0845 numbers are a good choice. However, I suggest you do a need analysis whether you need an 0845 numbers in the first place, as no one understands your business needs better as you yourself.
There is a lot of information available online.
There are many vendors providing 0845 numbers, and I suggest you should look to minimize your cost.
