There is a mod for it here:

OT - Why do these cart not include checkouts like Google as standard? Seems nuts to me...

Checkout is relatively new, cubecart is relatively old!

Most regulary updated e-commerce platforms do support checkout, or can easily be modified to incorporate checkout.

In many cases (such as in Cubecart) it's far easier to develop an add-on (or even better let someone else develop an add-on) for an existing version than to relaunch a new version specifically for cubecart.

    I beg to differ

We have had Google Checkout integrated into our software since October 2007. If they can't catch up after two years then that's fine by me

And im sure integration and deployment is as easy as any other user installing it?

Yea integration is usually a matter of downloading the files and uploading them to the right place on the server.

So if you've managed to install cubecart in the first place then it should be easy enough.

I said relatively new When checkout was first released there were numerous errors and problems that occured as with any new software. With something as crucial as collecting payments why would you want to use a new payment provider that hasn't been tried and tested with all cracks ironed? Even if nothing goes wrong, it's a massive risk to your business and your customers.

Whereas PayPal, Barclays Merchant etc have been going donkeys years and are tried and tested. Developers trust them, businesses trust them and most importantly customers trust them.

And if Checkout has problems most customers invariably blame the e-commerce software or their web developer looking for a solution, why should Cube Cart, and for that matter, yourself, put themselves at risk of being flooded with Google Checkout errors when they have multiple payment systems that all work perfectly well.

And since then the add-ons have been developed which are easy enough to install. OK so they could release a new version to incorporate checkout as standard now that Checkout itself is a standard payment provider but then they could do that for every add-on available.

If not everyone is going to use it, or there are better, more reliable alternatives available, then they should stick to what they know works 100% in their standard release.

I hear what you're saying but taking GC as an example, we had about two minor updates to be applied to the code since it's first release so it was pretty stable out of the box.

PayPal on the other hand are constantly evolving and actually require more work on our side to keep up to date.

Two years is more than enough for it to become a stable gateway.

Fair enough, I would have just thought it was a bit of a risk taking on a new provider so soon. But then I guess it is Google Checkout not Joe Bloggs Magic Payment Machine so you can trust the brand to get it right I guess.

Didn't mean to question your business in the above post by the way, just re-read and it came across as harsh! Was just surprised to see you'd taken it on so early, amazed that PayPal causes more issues than Google.

I've never really had a problem with either, although I find checkout a little less flexible than PayPal but that's probably because we don't use it as much.

Anyway, I'm so far off topic it's unreal.

Checkout in cube cart = can be done just download the add on and upload the files.

No offence taken at all, nothing like a good debate

Your reasoning is correct though when we decided to implement GC, it had already been in beta some time and as we launching a new eCommerce platform, we decided to run with it from the beginning...
