Vital Wordpress Plugins. Your Opinion

Hi Guys

Everyone has their own opinions and rightly so, to what is vital to a wordpress site with regards to plugins.

My 'never launch without them' include the following;

• All in one SEO
• Akismet
• XML Sitemaps
• Statpress

This list is aimed at the critical, operational rather than the bells and whistle add ons.

What, if any, do you consider vital to your/clients sites operation and security needs.

askimet is an absolute must to avoid the spamming. the current trend as well is to use a twitter feed to show on the blogs as well which i like.

I don't know much about Statpress, but I would have thought that linking to Google Analytics is reasonably essential?

And making sure that the theme you're going to use had some decent support, and kept up with the latest WP versions - that would apply to plugins as well.

Maybe a one-stop source / support for the whole setup?

I agree that askimet is a must have unless you want 8 million spammy comments in your inbox every day.

I also like Wordtube, NextGen Gallery and FormBuilder.

I usually have a Redirection one in there as well. Other than that it's exactly the same list I have myself!

I always add the maintenance mode plug in too. I think it's essential as sometimes to make updates things have to be taken down.

I would like to add "Cookies for Comments." It's my favorite one! Very effective to fight spam!
