Default Tech Question: How to stay logged in longer?

Can anyone help me to stay logged in to store admin control panels longer (ie cubecart and openmindcommerce stores)?
I am sure I read somewhere once it is to do with browser settings, is that right?
Many thanks
Sharon

For security reasons the OMC store will log you out after 45 minutes of no activity or when you close your browser.

You can increase it by opening the file application.cfm in the root of your store and changing this line:

PHP Code:
<cfapplication name="#appname#" clientmanagement="yes" setclientcookies="yes" sessionmanagement="yes" sessiontimeout=#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,45,0)# applicationtimeout=#CreateTimeSpan(0,0,45,0)#>
See the (0,0,45,0)? This is in the format of (days,hours,minutes,seconds) so if you change it to (0,1,30,0) for example you would stay logged in for up to 1hr 30 mins of inactivity.

I wouldn't make this timeout excessive though...

Thanks Phil, that is brilliant!

Do you know if there is a way to change the browser setting to stay logged in loner as well? My partner is moaning that cubecart keeps logging him out quickly and he reckons it is since I did something on his pc. He is very untechie so he just blames any pc problem on me!

No worries

Without looking into CubeCart, some systems will use a cookie to keep the user logged in but this can raise privacy issues if it is a shared computer. The only thing to check, if CubeCart does use this method, is that your hubbys browser is accepting cookies. If it's blocking them then that could be a reason.

Personally I favour the cookie less method as it is more secure...
