HP2133 Mini Note Review " A New Type Of Laptop Has Arrived"
Hi Guy's
A new Laptop kid is on the block now in the form of the new HP 2133 Mini Note notebook,
We have just recently taken stock of these so I thought after spending the weekend playing with the two versions available both Linux and Vista I would let you know my thoughts regarding this powerful solution,
As you can see from the image above the reason for call it mini is because is one of the smallest notebooks on the market today with dimensions mesuring 255 x 165 x 27 mm,
From within this compact machine though holds a superb level of specification including features as listed below,
Processor : 1 x VIA C7®-M ULV Processor Technology, 1.2 GHz, 128 KB L2 cache
Hard Drive: 120 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
Networking: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, Bluetooth
RAM: 1GB (installed) / 2GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz
Graphics Controller:VIA Chrome9
Other Devices Built In: Stereo speakers, Wireless LAN Aerial, Bluetooth Aerial, Webcam
Display : 8.9" WXGA TFT(1280 x 768)
Operating System: Windows Vista Business Or Linux Model Available
Weight : 1.2Kg
Dimensions: 255 x 165 x 27 mm
Battery: 3 Cell Standard Lilon 2.5 Hours Or 6 Cell Lilon : Approx 4.5 Hours
So as you can see from above the HP 2133 Mini Note is far from small on spec and functionaility,
The first thing I noticed about the Mininote is how leight it is at 1.2Kg you can hold this with one hand while typing with the other and on your lap you can hardly feel it, The other was the noise there just wasnt any this machine is so quiet ,
The mini note also benefits from full aliminium shell and a motion sensor to prevent hard drive damage if dropped or knocked which as being so light I should imagine it will be prone to a few knocks especially as I can see this being a reall techies toy,
For conectivity the HP2133 Mini Note comes as standard with full 802.11 a/b/g wireless as standard and also bluetooth 2.0 which is great for paring with your mobile phone, Connecting this model to m home network was as simple as entering the security key and within seconds I was surfing the net on the beautiful 8.2 inch WXGA Widescreen monitor which I have to say was quite a viewing pleasure,
All in all I would say this machine really stands up to the users needs for business and pleasure with a 120 GB hard drive and 1GB of mememory this machine is more than capible of running applications like Micrsoft Office and even adobe products,
As with everything there is a flip side to the coin so heres a list of the pro's and con's for you,
Pros
The most attractive 8.9-inch notebook we've ever seen
Windows Vista might be too much for the VIA processor and graphics but you can install XP
Strange location for touchpad buttons
Screen is too reflective due to second glossy protective layer
Aluminum and plastic casing gets a little too hot
I hope that this new player in the market looks of interest to you guys but for more information you can either pm me or be sure to check the HP website here
Yeah they sure are a nice peice of kit , dont get me wrong I beleive it could have been made more powerful but then I am a power hungy enthusiast so even if it was running a mobile version of quadcore I think I would still want more more more,
Whilst it's one sexy looking notebook, the processor uses very old technology. Mind you, if you not using it for anything extreme then this would be just fine. I'm rather linking it. Its like a eeepc, but with style!! *Simon that is one creepy looking picture

Only offers a minimum of 2Gb upgrade ram?
Didn't notice a DVD or CD rom drive.
How does this compare with the sony viao Simon?
Hiya Buddy,
Sony Viao is a laptop the HP2133 is a mini notebook so big difference chap as the performance on the Laptops are always going to beat the HP2133 but,
Regarding the optical drives they havent included one but a standard usb external drive for around £25.00 would do the job, you see the machine is all about mobility with functionaility and not a desktop replacement by any means,
