I have flashchat installed on my site and the members love it but are getting pee'd off as it is regularly seizing up or kicking people out, even when there are only 2 people in there.

Could this be a server issue (ie not quick enough)? I have used very little of my server space so far, so am just wondering if it's an issue with the bridge to my software, the chatroom software or the server and no clue where to start looking for the problem.

It sounds like its just poorly coded if its struggling with only 2 people.

I can take a look at it for you tho and see what can be done if you wish?

Don't confuse the amount of storage on your server with it's performance. If you are using a low cost shared server it won't work very well with processor intensive activity or many simultaneous connections.

Is that something Martin will be able to test Dave, have worried about server performance for some time now.

No doubt he will but if it's a low cost shared server it will suffer as your business grows and have a negative impact on your business unless you put a plan into place to upgrade as things start to happen.

I have always assumed I would need to upgrade at some point but not sure how to identify when that might be.

Because the site doesn't have any income it has to be on a cheap shared server at the moment.

Will it be difficult to swap when the time comes?

The web host should be able to do this for you

Make sure you keep a latest copy of your website/databases backed up though incase that all doesnt get transferred over for you
