new domain 'ends'

Hi ... I've been told half a tale about new domain endings (sure there's a technical term ... just can't think of it!

) coming out ... basically where you can choose what you want. Is this correct? Where can I found out more info.?

I believe they are expected to cost several thousands each.

There is a thread here about it but put your money into better use and keep the .com/.co.uk or whatever "known" extension you have.

I don't see the point of them. Why pay £000s for www.mybusiness.london when you could have www.mybusiness-london.com for £10.

I think the assumption is that whoever buys .London would be able to sell enough .London domains to other users to make a handsome return, while the likes of Pepsi will buy .Pepsi to protect their brand...I think only time will tell if all this becomes reality or whether Icann is left holding a one ear goose!

I don't think any of the brand names will waste their money on .whatever because if that was the case, there wouldn't be ext out there with the brand names still available.
