Default NEED URGENT HELP: Re-installing Windows XP

Hi All

Please can someone advise me on re-installing Windows XP? I followed the installation instructions and it got to a point where it said "The file 3waredrv.sys could not be found - set up has failed".

I don't know what this means or what needs doing to complete the installation - can anyone help me please? I have tried what I can but it just goes round in circles and doesn't offer any help....

Eagerly awaiting positive advice!

Thank you.

Tessa

Are you booting it from the CD? (as in booting it, not starting windows and then running the cd setup?

Also what make and model are you using as many have their own proprietory setup HP, Packard bell etc.

The file it's looking for is probably a SCSI or SATA driver, i.e. it's a file which the operating system is asking for during installation to be able to talk to your hard drive/s. Can you confirm the make/model of the system you're trying to install from, and what CD you are using? Did it come with the system, is it a new purchase? You may have a CD which came with the system (as OWG said above), you may also have a floppy disk with '3Ware' written on it. This is normally used at the beginning of the setup by pressing F6 when prompted to and putting the floppy disk in. This drops the 3waredrv.sys file (and others) into the install.
