How to exlcude a post in the main body - wordpress

I have already posted this on the wordpress forums but I thought I might get a quicker answer here:

Could somebody tell me if it is possible to exclude a post in the main body and just have it accessible from the categories menu?

You might need a modification to the php file, so that if it is a sub category post on the main body hide it. Don't think you can hide it from the main body within the admin settings of a post.

Ah ok!

I was trying to get a set of competition rules up, but did not want them to show up right at the top. I suppose you can't even change the order of the posts as they are in date order.

Oh well, will have to replan this and have the competition on our site rather than the blog.

You could create a Competition Page in the blog itself if you are using Wordpress. Rename the default page and this will appear static in your links as well.

It can be done, and I could do it for you, but don't have the time right now to look into it. We can change the order of the posts through a database script no problem there. Have you thought about just adding a Page instead of a Post?

Logon to your wordpress admin site then go Write > Write Page
The page will appear in your links if you choose and also can contain posts and comments if you wish

Yeah I was thinking about creating a competition page, i'll do it this way.
