Just about to take the plunge and move across to a dedicated server due to performance issues and site growth.
I have one big question and a couple of smaller queries...(hope you read this OWG )
Big question. The company I am looking at are based in Germany, 1 and one...will this have any adverse results on my SEO efforts?
Smaller queries;
a) I have both the .com and .co.uk of my domains, should I redirect the .com to .co.uk or vice versa
b) anyone have any comments on the support/service levels of my proposed host?
I was going down the route of a VPS but alas, I have little to no server knowledge and they are not offering a managed service on this pack so I am looking at a managed dedicated package at the mo.

This really does scare the hell out of me
If you do not have the skills to manage your own server then please don't do it. There is a massive learning curve for you to understand fully how to secure and patch a server as well as maintain it from attack.
We can supply UK based managed/un-managed servers for you and if you insist on going down the unmanaged route then please do consider getting the server setup and the software installed for you as I promise it will save a world of pain later on...

That is why I am going down the managed server route Phil
I have read (and spoken to current customers) and it appears to meet my needs and then some for now.
My current location is on a reseller account but I have noticed issues with any action that requires script action through my cgi-bin.
As I am marketing heavily next month, I cannot afford to risk poor performance and as such I am attempting to future proof the site for the next 2 years.
My only real concern now is the SEO with servers based in Germany. It does not cause issues for those I have spoken to, just looking for some reassurance really...
