Default Firefox 3 and Windows XP freezing

For anyone that bothers to read my blog you will now I have been building a new monster which was running perfectly until I reinstalled FF3 and used it as normal.

For the last week I have been tearing out waht little hair I have left trying to figure out why the system was completely locking up 5-6 times per day forcing me to a reboot and it looks like FF is the culprit.

I did a Google and by the looks of things I'm not alone:

I've deintsalled FF and no crashes yet so fingers crossed. Its a shame beacuse after being an IE die hard for years I was getting used to FF as my default browser but if it causes me this much grief I'll not be bothering...

Yeh that's what I've done and its quicker as well as using less resources than FF3...

Mind if it crashes again because of FF then it will go to hell in a handcart

Well I'm pleased I held off upgrading to FF3 - I think I'll keep holding off for a while!

Any news of similar experiences on Vista? I've not seen any issues like this yet.

There are some reports littered about but there doesn't seem to be a common denominator. The only thing it might be if you are running a 64 bit OS...

Anyways, I'm using FF2 today so we will have to see if that makes a difference...

Its definitely FF3 as I've been running FF2 since the OP and no crashes at all...

Looks like its because I run a 64-bit OS...

I have never had any such problems with FF. I've been using it for over 2 years solidly and my upgrade to FF3 was problem 3. I have run FF3 since beta and was running Windows XP at the time. I have since upgraded to Vista Business and still have no problems. I hope that helps
