    Default Html Editor

    Is that what I need?

When creating new pages for the site I use the built in editor which is, well woefully pants. I have a wee little box that displays within the website itself which makes compiling full pages difficult.

So I want something that I can use as a wysiwyg but then convert to HTML which I can then paste into my cms software.

Any recommendations? Any free ones out there? There are loads if I type the above in google but not sure what I actually need?

    Does that make sense?

It depends on your budget and how fussy you are about having perfect code.

Products like Microsoft's FrontPage will do both WYSIWYG and then you can view, edit, copy etc. the code.

Other products include Dreamweaver which is similar but more powerful and generally (afaik) creates nicer/cleaner code.

For a free HTML editor only, useful for tidy things up, try PSPad - but not wysiwyg there.

Cheers Sandra....Had a quick look, would I be right in saying that would need to be integrated somehow.

Looking for a standalone editor ?

Yes it would, I misunderstood what you were after...

For a stand alone editor, TopStyle do a great css editor which I believe also doubles as an html editor...

NVU is no longer available but its successor Kompozer is free and there are forums etc to guide you. It is a WYSIWYG editor but needs a stand alone ftp program - theres a good free one at NCH called Classic FTP.
