With regards to VAT? Firstly to be able to claim back VAT you need to be paying it in the first place. This means the business needs to be earning over £70k gross pa. Then you'll be eligible to claim back all sorts, fuel, business entertaining etc.

Nope, you do not need to be turning over £68,000 (not 70k) you can always register voluntarily if you wish. This is always a good step if you are buying in VATable supplies etc,
