I'd like to take my neice to a modelling agency as I think she would do well, very photogenic and good in front of the camera. I know I'd need to ask her parents permission but I dont think they wouldnt mind.

Hi there,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Initially, all we require are a couple of snapshots by email. Depending on how many enquiries we have at the time, it can take a while for a decision, but you would always get a yes or no.

So are you able to judge if a kid has the sort of face they want in magazines etc? I dont know how it all works.

I can pretty much tell from a few snapshots whether a child might be suitable for modelling. Although, it is not all about how a child looks, they have to have a certain 'something' (sorry, that sounds so cheesy!) that comes across on a picture. They also need to be confident and outgoing (but well behaved). Not all 'pretty' children are suitable for modelling, and advertisers often like children with a quirky look.

After we have received snapshots from parents, if we feel they have a good look for modelling, they are invited to a test shoot, from which I will decide if they are suitable for Chilli Kids. As long as they are well behaved, punctual, follow direction and photograph well, then odds are we will offer representation.

Thats the selection process in a nutshell, there are other things that need doing obviously, due to the fact they we are dealing with children, like applying for modelling licences from the child's education authority (it is illegal for a child to model without a licence).

Interesting - we already have links with actors/presenters we call on when required but it would be interesting to know your rates, profile info etc. Do you have another site you use for this? What about your child actors - do they go through Chilli Kids? Perhaps you could PM me some info.
