Marketing is very important to every company. It is especially important when things are quiet.


Most marketing strategies involve :

1. Good Copywriting - astounding content that makes them want you
2. Good Graphic Design - visual communication that makes you look professional
3. Good Photography - display your product or services clearly
4. Good Website - extremely important in this day and age.
5. Good PR - get people talking about you.


Our role is no.2 : graphic design but over the years, we have worked with really good companies that cover the other 4 industries.

Cutting back on marketing will have devastating results for your company and will get worse as time goes by. Credibility to building your brand will drop. Inevitably it will take you double the time if not more, to regain or improve your status in your market place.

I have 3 weeks on me own to do what I like and that includes staying up late .

Totally agree with your points on grahic design Kay.
Branding was one of the first things I worked on when I set up AM and it did take a long time.
I worked with a designer to come up with the following:
Logo
Typography
Corporate colours

Which is quite basic but it has meant that I have had a structure to work from right from the start.
My advice to anyone starting out would be to look on building the brand as a foundation - consistency is key.

Although I agree with you Kay .I would put any online sites No 1 priority as SEO ,all the good ideas you have.

agree with Alvin.

got to have decent seo from the start as you want to
get into those listings and keywords as fast as you can.

the 3 things that are needed before anything else is imo:

1. sales copy
2. decent and easy ordering system
3. an opt in list to capture information

forget your flashy sites and other gimmicks they can be
added later.

When I made the list, it was in no particular order. All as equally as important. My point no.3 about having a good website also included SEO. Should have mentioned that too.

Also if your SEO was top notch and drove 25,000 people to your site per day but you have bad copy, bad graphical representation, poor looking site, would anyone buy from you?

as long as you have good navigation ,good clear images of your products with clear pricing.They will buy even if your title is joe bloggs undertakers.as an example this is the most successfull camera sales site in the

I promise you they are after your product if your in sales.

There are only three reasons that people visit a site .

I for information

2 to be amused

3 to make a purchase or a donation.

or as it is more broadly put ,to solve a problem.
