Default Quick SEO and Links Question

    Hi guys,

Quick question: I know that the number of inbound links to your site makes you rank higher on google. Does this work better if this is from a variety of different sites (or forums), or is it ok if it's just on a few? I'm just curious about how much it is worth joining lots of different forums?

    Cheers

You want links from sites that are relevant to your product.

The higher the PR of the site or its importance on the web the better.

Forum links have very little value.

Bit of a strange question considering your business.?

Forums links dont count for much at all.

If your site is in a popular niche and your heading into a competitive market then back links are quite important from popular sites - however if you have the right niche you can get to rank for your keywords with only a pittance of backlinks.

Lot of sense here in the responses. In other words, just building links may actually have little or no effect, unless you take into account the things mentioned above.

And if you can only do two, do relevancy of links, and inclusion of your keywords in the link.

Precisely, try to set out a strategy from the start using a good variety of link building techniques and then stick to it.
