I thought they were too good to be true but adwords shouldn't promote scams.

Adwords promoting scams is nothing new. http://www.clickz.com/3633002

A simple Google search for "economic stimulus cash" turns up several ads for sites such as ObamaStimulusPlan.info, Stimulus.GrantPacket.com, and others. Some ads use the President's name in the copy: "Find Out How I Got My Stimulus Check From Obamas Bailout Early," declares one text ad seen on Google today.

You can also get malware from adwords. http://www.gadgetell.com/tech/commen...oogle-adwords/

The way Adwords editorial works means that they cannot possibly vet all sites properly.

As has been said, the only way to collect an email list is collect it yourself using the legally required double opt-in methods in the UK.

    Baz,

I agree with your advice to the OP not to go after the $25 spam email list however just to point out that double opt in is not a legal requirement in the UK at present.

That said, if anyone is buying list handling software then they should make sure it handles double opt in because I'm sure it will become law in the UK eventually.

    Cheers
    Mike

Cheers for pointing that out, I thought it was a legal requirement but it appears not.

While searching I have found a few interesting articles on email marketing though:-

It's not a legal requirement but (more importantly) it IS probably against the TOS of your ISP/hosting...

Is a good idea to actually remind subscribers that they opted in once on a while...

Most places these days will just add your email to a list whenever you buy something which is not strictly speaking double opt in.

One large corporation made me double opt OUT of something I never wanted in the first place...

The thing that these bulk email compainies say is that there is no ISP issues as they use their own servers so no complaints.
My single issue is whether they actually send that number or any at all.
There seems no way to check.
I read one post in another forum when I searched for email scams that a man said he didn't seem to recieve any clicks or traffic at all when his site was supposed to be emailed to 25 miilion opt ins.
It all seems just a big con.
That is why I didn't pay but it is so tempting if it did avtually work.

I can see that you really really want someone to say it's a good idea so that you can justify trying it - but it really isn't worth the trouble that it may get you into.

Even if they did send out that many emails (which is unlikely), they will be illegally harvested email addresses and many of them will be dead anyway.

It is you who will get into trouble with your ISP, your website hosting company, your domain registrant, etc, etc.

It is so easy to report spam these days that it is just not worth it.

    Now let's be more positive...

Advertise your site properly, try video sites, twitter, go viral, whatever. I'm afraid it will mean some work though so I hope you will be getting something out of it at the end.

    Regards,
    Jess.

Thanks for your honest opinions. I agree with you and was wanting to hear it was possible but I always type in the website address followed by "scam" and there is always lots of stuff for email bulk senders. Such a shame but then I suppose if it were possible to get 5 million hits google adwords wouldn't exist and all our email folders would be full all the time.
I had a joke photo website and I believed that once it is in email it will get forwarded around offices etc because people like me when Iworked in the city like a light hearted bit of fun during the day!
It wasn't me trying to sell my ecigs or sell anything just a joke site trying to be viral.
One interesting thing is that if you can get say 50 emails to friends and collegues and they in turn forward the email link it only takes a few times to get enormous hits. But that means everyone forwards it. I used to forward funny emails at work but then there would always be some who took offence to whatever joke it was.
There simply is no way to make money on the internet at all is there!!!!
    Just damnright impossible!!!
I just wanted to hear that bulk email senders work and I am suprised that adwords allows all these scams to advertise. They apparently don't even send a single email they just take your cash off you.
But I still think if you create something funny and get a few emails sent they may get forwarded and catch on.
It is very hard too these days to create a simple link to email with firefox and other browsers.
Thanks for your advice and views and I think I will avoid them. I was close though to spending i can tell you!!!

If you want to advertise a funny site, just use http://www.stumbleupon.com/ads/ 5 cents a visitor. 100 visitors a day costs just 5 dollars. Once you get the momentum going, its sustain itself in the natural stumble sites. Just make sure it is funny or you get negative votes.

I think its junk for anything else but funny sites is what stumbleupon is for. I waste hours watching college humour videos and stuff I find on there.

It sounds to good to be true.
But if they actually send them it sounds like a fantastic way to get millions of web hits quickly. What do you think?
Are they legit and is it possible to send millions of emails?
    no,
    never use them
    no
