    Default Flyers

First post - be gentle please!

I run a small cleaning company based in west london. Never have done much advertising but the recession is catching up on me a bit so im going to take the plunge.

I got a copywriter to write some leaflets for us but the designer wants to know - do we want lots of words on both sides or a more designed front of the leaflet with the back of the leaflet with some strong advertising copy?

I want to make the money spent count as im sure we all do at the moment. What do you all think?

Dont know if this makes much sense!!!!!

Ah - I didn't say write a wall of words.

You need to create impact with a bold eye catching heading and then make sure that you have compelling, esay to read copy that persuades the reader to take whatever action you want them to take.

If its to call you then make sure your phone number is very clearly shown on the leaflet.

Some people will actually just read the headline and then look for the phone number to call so make it easy to find both!

I'd say a bulleted list of jobs you undertake would be most useful. If I were looking for a cleaning company I'd first want to know if it dealt with residential or business cleaning, and then the sort of jobs it did eg one-off jobs, carpets, upholstery etc. Bullet points avoid the 'wall of words' problem mentioned by Mike.

You can get to the front page of Google with a FREE Ad for this type of service, assuming the area you cover is fairly small.

Vivastreet are the best free ad place in the UK (IMO) as they allow website links and lots of text and pictures.

    In the ad title write

cleaner (followed by the area you cover)

Do the same in the body of your Ad

    Ensure you use the words:

    cleaning services (area)
    Cleaner (area)

    and so on

Then register with some free ad sites using the same format.

NOTE: If the area you cover is larger, write several ads with each of the the smaller areas listed in the title.

When people look for cleaners etc, they will nearly always search with the phrase

    'cleaner...location'

    etc.

Try this before you spend a fortune on flyers.

    Beat me to it Sandra.

Paying particular attention to ACTION. You would be surprised how many times I have had some great stuff put in front of me BUT I have not got a clue what they want me to do...

Don't make me think please....apply this to all marketing guys.

i think that you should make an interesting yet well based flyer which will attract people with its sense of colors and its extravangnte usage of words

If you are going for a double sided leaflet, you could include testimonials from satisfied customers on the back and point out that references are available.

Testimonials are a great way to increase people's confidence in you and make you stand out from any other cleaning companies who are advertising. If you don't have any then try asking your existing customers.
