I would have thought that was pretty obvious- less profit being the major drawback!

having to compete more and only having price as your USP so leaving you nothing to offer except a cheap price

devaluing what you sell if you mean cutting or undercutting typical prices

never being able to go any lower otherwise you run the risk of being out of pocket

lower profit margins - so you have to sell more to make it up meaning you have to do more marketing to attract more buyers

i don't like that idea as you can only compete on price.

even if a product is good, a customer may think it's of inferior quality with its low pricing.

    IMHO cheap is cheap as....

I look for much more than price when buying anything over £10

There is a difference between "price" and "cost"
We are constantly challenged by business owners when they ask about the price of our bookkeeping services. They tell us that they can get a "cheaper" bookkeeper eleswhere.

The question they should ask themselves, is "why is that bookkeeper so much cheaper?"

We are happy that certain clients go to cheaper bookkeepers - we've priced ourselves so that we don't attract clients that are more interested in price than value

So often a "cheap bookkeeper" will cost the client more in the long run, through making mistakes, not being confident in what they do, or taking twice as long to perform tasks to make up for thier low pricing

Is a hamburger and chips in a posh upmarket restaurant really much different from a hamburger and chips in a fast food restaurant? Yet you can pay 2 or 3 times as much

As Daren says, "cheap is cheap" - you get what you pay for
