Help with advertising sugestions

Hi folks

I offer two main services
1. basement conversions
2. loft conversions

we currently advertise in yellow pages, we have our web-sites, advertise on our three vans, leaflet drop throughout the year.

Am looking at increasing the online advertsing but god its a mine field, just had a nightmare with a search engine optimisation firm, took £100 and did nada!!!

Any suggestions/reccomendations on relaible SEO firms would be great .

Also any input on where i should advertise for the services we offer.

To be fair, £100 is not going to get you nada from any SEO expert worth their salt.
The most basic elements are CONTENT, CODING and LINKS.

A reputable SEO is firstly going to check your site over to inspect the general structure, to see how internal pages are linking, site speed, html validation, existence of non-essential code, correct meta tags, keyword density etc. That's going to take a few hours on its own and will cost a few hundred from the right people.

Then they will advise on content, maybe you need to alter existing content, align it with keywords and internal code. Then comes the ongoing link-building work. This will take a fair few hours each month and I'm not talking about bulk directory submissions.
