    Default Advice/Help needed

I am an web designer with good seo skills and have a business directory in a certain industry page 1 in Google in most towns and counties in the UK for plenty of highly targeted keywords. I need help to sell advertising space on the website to local business.

What would be my best options

either take on self employed sales person
    telemarketing
    email campaign

As money is tight i cant afford to make mistakes, has anyone experience in this area.

    Thanks

In my experience people by from people. An email campaign still needs to be backed up by a real person, so I'd suggest you find someone who'll sell for you on a commission-only basis.

If they're any good, and believe in the product, they'll be successful. If they're not very good it won't cost you much other than some lost time.

Honestly I wouldn't buy advertising space unless I knew I was going to get something from it. Could you give free trials for a month and then give people the option of continuing with the listing?

Caroline has hit the nail on the head you are in a very competitive market sector and to be honest stand a much better chance if you can warm up your prospects first.

    I hope this helps

    Try this (just one way):

Make a DVD video and on it show you speaking, screen shots of Google, and graphs of the stats of traffic reaching these sites.

Either put it online and drive traffic to it (a simple psotcard with a great offer), ro send the DVD with something written on it that will make them want to watch it.
