Mods/Ray - If you feel that this is an inappropriate thing to ask please delete, please also know I am not touting for business
I have set up my forum, adding the details to my website, blog, newsletter and also emailed all my previous customers.
However I still only have a couple of members and the majority of the forum is me just posting. It doesn't look very good at the moment and I know there is a lot of other forums of the same sort out there.
So how would you go about gaining more members?

Invest in some press releases and get word out, it's an unusual kinda forum, so that's a good start Perhaps hold a competition at the same time

Well, why not send as many Christmas ecards as you like for only £5.99, save a fortune, put your company name on the message and be green at the same time

Are there any popular witchcraft bloggers? Could you enlist their help?
My forum started off with 4 of us and it was hard work populating the threads but it will look a lot better once the categories all have a few threads in. Will be over later today to stick a couple more in.

As Fuzzy says, get writing some press releases and ping them off to target media. Also, if your sector has any events or alike, go flyer like crazy outside them.
Can you buy an email list for your sector and email them?
I imagine you can have some fun with a witchcraft brand and the media so finding an angle would not be too hard.

go to various UK community forums and seek out threads (through searches) with your keywords and see what comes up.
www.sheffieldforums.co.uk is massive in Sheffield and being non-specific, there may be some good topics you can either revive, add to or start new. Same for other cities, just dig out their local forums. make sure you are not advertising your wares (Sheffield for example, are quite strict about this) but add your forum to your signature area and people reading your useful info on the subject will pick it up. Perhaps dig out local information , ie did you know, in Manchester in 1879, 3 local ladies from Denton, thought to be witches, were.... lol you get my drift though.

-Make sure that all your customers know about it
-advertise it on your website on the off chance that people will go and look at it
-look for other similar sites that may be interested in you advertising on their site
-Try and get a press release in any magazines to do with your forum

It seems you're going about it the right way - one thing you can be sure to find on Forums is people who like forums! Also, directory submission and press releases will help.
