Default Any pointers to attract UK clients?

Hello,
My name is Kevin Lee, this is my first post. I manage a small business in web design (e-commerce) and based in barcelona, Spain. I have built the business from scratch around a client base of American businesses for the past 5 years.

Myself being based in the EU now and with the US$$ so weak against the EU€, the business profit margin is so low I'm not sure how I can continue. So now I am prepared to focus on the UK market, any pointers / advice on which UK portal or forums to place advertising banners would be greatly appreciated. I would raise a small budget for these paid-web-based advertising but I'm not quite sure where start in the UK. I specialize in bespoke design & e-commerce solutions to small/medium size business. Thanks,

Kevin

I work for a company that does similar things, but I'll help you none the less....

If I was in your shoes I would take a look around the internet at some different ecommerce websites, when you find ones with a "site maintained and designed by xyz" take a look at how old the website is and how it works. If it is dated and has all the usual problems that come with poorly designed ecommerce sites you could have a prospect.

Now that you know how maintains it ask them for a quote pretending to be an ecommerce company of a similar size and worth. Armed with your quote you now know what you are up against.

If you phone the company they may be interested in what you have to say. For example look up bosfish on google (I cant post links yet - sorry) their website is horrible. They could be a prime candidate especially since we have our summer and more people would be purchasing fishing tackle.

Hope this helps.....
